I ordered two of these roosting boxes and they came today. The flap doors on both boxes are positioned incorrectly so that they do not close flush to the sides of the boxes. Consequently, the small L-shaped brass fasteners barely cover the left sides. The boxes are very rough and do not feel finished or sanded. They look like someone put them together in a big hurry. Also, there were no directions or suggestions for installing the boxes, just a piece of plywood, a length of post-type wood and two screws in a bag. The screws appear to be longer than needed so that they may protrude inside the boxes. I'm disappointed, but don't want to pack them up and return them so will probably jury-rig them together someway to make them function. I just won't order from this company again.

I LOVE IT - I LOVE IT. I searched high and low for the perfect roosting box. This is a great size, has the screening on the back wall for the woodpeckers, is hardy and well made at the BEST price. Others I found were half the size for the same $$. Lyn.

Year round cover for bird families,

I have many birds in my yard on purpose...I maintain a yard where any animal is happy there. Nests with the baby birds make me worry during heavy rains and winds. I had a nest under my 2nd floor porch once and watched it just pour down on the new babies (I put a yoga mat over the porch floor which was above them to cover them when I found out.)
What's nice about this is they can nest any time of year safely, away from the view of climbing cats and raccoons and warm for woodpeckers with a back they can latch on to as well.
It's lasted a year now and held up very well. It comes with a post to hang it onto house or tree or whatever you wish.
It appears to be made out of cedar but honestly I'm not great at determining wood types. It smells like cedar though!
