Esschert Design Bird Nest Pocket - Coconut Fiber

I've seen several similar birdhouses almost identical in design to this one by other manufacturers and the quality paled in comparison. The weave on this product is attached to a steel caging which results in a very strong and solid nest house. Has a great natural look too. Considering that 99% of bird houses are grossly over priced ($25 or more), this one is somewhat reasonable.

This unusual bird house is beautiful as decor in the home as well as a functioning bird house. Wrens inhabit it readily. It will not, however, be easy to clean out following a season's use by birds. Mine hangs in my studio; a friend uses his for the birds. We are both happy with this item.

This is an attractive birdhouse that, to my eye, blends in better with natural settings than boxy birdhouses do. I suspect birds don't care either way, as long as their criteria are met for size, location, and comfort. The woven coconut fiber and wire framework is sturdy, but allows ventilation. I don't obsess over cleaning my birdhouses, but if you have a compulsion for tidiness, you won't like the lack of a backdoor on this house. With the over-sized back-board, it's easy to hang with nails, or screws, or hooks, or duct tape, or whatever you have on hand.
