Hagen parakeet nest box provides a safe and cozy shelter for mating and nesting pairs, as well as for the tending of baby parakeets and lovebirds. The nest box includes a protective transparent door that allows to view the progression of the babies without disturbing the occupants. It takes only a few minutes to assemble and install in the bird cage. It can be placed inside a large cage, hung on the right or left side of the cage or positioned on any specifically designed parakeet breeding cage. Hygienic and easy to use, the nest box comes complete with a plastic nest. Available in black color. This product weighs 1.13-pound. Measures 8-5/8-inch length by 5-1/4-inch width by 5-1/4-inch height.

Being a novice breeder, I read all the pros and cons of all the boxes available. I ordered eight of these boxes. They are easy to assemble, easy to clean and the birds LOVE them. They are PERFECTLY SIZED for my American Budgies. The clear observation door seems to provide extra comfort for the hens. (Or maybe its the black interior?) These boxes were also easily mounted INSIDE my common wire type breeder cages, so cutting the bars wasn't necessary (The inspection doors slide up thru the top bars of cage).

My only reservation is how well they will last, but I foresee no problems. If my next round of clutches is as good as this one, I will be ordering more of these without hesitation!

The cage itself is great, but the hole is two small for parakeets. I had to go and buy the wooden boxes afterwards, because they
really do need two inch holes to enter the box. Also, the hook are cheap and won't hang onto the cage. I wish that I had just bought one and had tried it out first, rather than buying three at one time.
